iPhone 5 Gets Spotted In The Wild?

A 9to5Mac tipster managed to snap a picture of what they believe may be the iPhone 5 being used by an Apple employee on the way home from work., according to a report released moments ago.

The tipster was able to get a very good look at the device but unable to snap a picture to "do it justice". After returning home and seeing the green cases photos posted online yesterday he determined that it was likely a legitimate device.

"Almost EVO-like" in screen size, this iPhone also appears thinner than the current iPhone 4 but also wider. The edges are rounded metal like the edges of a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 but could still function as an antenna. The back is a curved/tapered glass or plastic. He couldn't tell but if he had to guess he'd say glass. He said it looked too amazing to be built by anyone besides Apple (fanboy!).

The man using the device was apparently making an effort to hide what he had. Apple does do real world testing of their upcoming devices as the iPhone 4 leak is evidence of.

Apple News | iOS 5 Includes APIs to Locate Faces in Photos

Apple has added APIs to iOS 5 that developers can use to locate faces within a photo, observes 9to5Mac. The new capabilities are thought to be a result of Apple's acquisition of Polar Rose last year.

A CIFaceFeature object describes a face detected in a picture. Its properties provide locations for the face's eyes and mouth.

A CIDetector object uses image processing to look for specific features in a picture.

These APIs will make it easier for developers to implement facial recognition for their applications and could hint at a deeper integration of face detection in iOS.

iPhone App Alert: Trimit

In this world of 140 character Tweets and 160 character text messages (for those of use who are still trapped in the past), we all find it necessary to condense our thoughts from time to time. For the long-winded, like me, this is an important daily exercise that constantly reminds me I could be texting/speaking/communicating more efficiently, and encourages me to cut out unnecessary words and, I’ll admit it, sometimes punctuation. If you can’t be bothered to look over your text messages or, God forbid, edit your tweets for brevity, have no fear: The Trimit iPhone App is here and it will automatically maim your text to fit character limits by rmvng vwls & adding abbr.s 4 u.

What about you?
Do you have an app that works the same thing as this one? If so, please share it with us. :)

Rob Shoesmith, a 29-year-old who works for Medl Mobile, is already in line for the iPhone 5 at London's Covent Garden Apple Store, reports Metro.co.uk.

The 29-year-old has been given everything from scented candles and aftershave to use of a £20,000 Chevrolet car, £800 worth of outdoor gear and food from top restaurants.

The freebie grabbing is part of a publicity stunt while he camps outside London's flagship Apple store to be first in line for the new iPhone 5 later this year.

Shoesmith plans to use his blog to promote companies that donate products and services to help him with the experience. The stunt will also help him build contacts for Medl Mobile, the app development company he is marketing manager for.

Reusable items that Shoesmith receives while waiting for the iPhone will be donated to charity once the wait is over.

Photos of 'iPhone 4GS' Test Device Leak Online?

Been very impatient with the next iphone?
Check this out!

Taiwanese site Apple.pro republishes some photographs originally posted to Weibo, a Chinese microblogging service similar to Twitter.

The images claim to be of an "iPhone 4GS" test model running iOS 4.0. The unit appears to be identical to the iPhone 4 with a reported 5 megapixel camera based on the diagnostic software. The iTunes artwork looks different but as some readers have pointed out -- no camera and looks to simply be the original iPod Touch artwork.

Based on the serial number and firmware version, initial consensus seems to be that this is a early iPhone 4 rather than a prototype of an upcoming device.

Take a look at the photos below and let us know what you think!
